About Us

What Sets Us Apart

We are fiercely friendship-first and all are treated as equals. Our dynamic is peer-to-peer rather than camper / counselor or mentor / mentee. To cultivate this vibe, we do small group hangs vs. the 1:1 pairings typically seen at other programs (1:1 pairings are always available for those who prefer or require the support and are assigned at Adult Camp).

Our programs are carefully designed to encourage social skills development, self-advocacy, positive decision-making, life skills, and independence. Support is always available depending on an individual's needs and goals. We believe in meeting our participants where they are, while also building their capacities with respect to their goals.

We actively include adults with Down syndrome on our Leadership Team, who represent about half of our team.

TDFW Leadership Team

Our Leadership Team is made up entirely of dedicated volunteers with at least 100 hours of experience supporting the Down syndrome community, all of whom are background checked. Inclusion is central to our work, and adults with Down syndrome are active members of our Leadership Team.
